Andreas Halvorsen
Chief Executive Officer
Andreas Halvorsen is a co-founder of Viking and Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for all firm-wide matters and oversees the firm’s investment activities, including capital allocation and risk management. His previous roles at Viking included Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of the Financials portfolio. Prior to forming Viking in 1999, Andreas worked at Tiger Management Corporation, where he held several roles, and at Morgan Stanley. Andreas received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and received the Alexander A. Robichek Award, and a B.A. in economics from Williams College. Andreas also served as an officer in the Royal Norwegian Navy.
Brian Kaufmann
Head of Private Investments
Brian Kaufmann is Head of Private Investments responsible for managing the private equity and structured capital team and a portfolio of private investments across sectors and geographies. Prior to his current role, Brian was a Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst on Viking’s public equity team, responsible for identifying and researching investment ideas in the Healthcare sector. Prior to joining Viking in 2010, he was an Associate at TA Associates where he focused on private equity investments in the Healthcare and Business Services sectors. Brian started his career as an Investment Banking Analyst in Merrill Lynch’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Brian received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and a B.S. in applied economics and business management, magna cum laude, from Cornell University. In 2021, Brian was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
David Ott
Advisory Director
David Ott is a co-founder of Viking and serves as Advisory Director. He assists in the development and mentoring of the investment team, performance measurement and risk analysis and firm-wide training. David’s prior roles at Viking included Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of the Consumer portfolio. Prior to forming Viking in 1999, David was a Managing Director with Tiger Management Corporation. Institutional Investor selected David as one of the “Best of the Buy Side” in 1994 and 1998 and one of the “Most Versatile Buy-Siders” in 1996. Before Tiger Management Corporation, David worked for Massachusetts Financial Services as an Equity Analyst. David graduated from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Rose Shabet
Chief Operating Officer
Rose Shabet is Chief Operating Officer responsible for all firm-wide operational matters. Prior to joining Viking in 2008, Rose was with Lehman Brothers as Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Branding. She was previously with Goldman Sachs for 11 years in various roles, including Analyst in the Equities Division, Investment Banker in the Financial Institutions Group, and Head of the Executive Office Client Service Group. Rose received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.A. in economics from Harvard College.
Justin Walsh

Justin Walsh is Chief Investment Officer responsible for managing the public equity team and a portfolio of investments across sectors and geographies. He previously served as Viking’s co-Chief Investment Officer and a Portfolio Manager. Justin joined Viking in 2010 as a summer intern and rejoined full time in 2011. Prior to joining Viking, Justin was a Club Finance Analyst at the National Football League, a Private Equity Analyst at Blackstone, and an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs. Previn Mankodi is Deputy Chief Investment Officer responsible for assisting in the management of the public equity team and identifying and researching investment ideas in the internet, media, and telecom sectors. Prior to joining Viking in 2020, he was a Partner at Hoplite Capital Management. Previously, Previn engaged in various entrepreneurial activities, including research on positive expectation strategies for games of chance. Previn received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, an M.Phil. in economics from Cambridge University, and a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago.

Hani is responsible for managing a team of investment professionals and identifying and researching investment ideas in the financials sector. Hani is based in Viking’s London office. Prior to joining Viking in 2004, Hani was Head of Global Insurance Research at Citigroup, where he researched global insurance stocks, Co-Head of European Insurance Research at Deutsche Bank, and an Analyst at J.P. Morgan. Hani graduated from Aston Business School in the U.K.

Prior to joining Viking in 2022, Matthew was a Partner and Senior Analyst at Suvretta Capital Management, an Associate at The Carlyle Group, and an Analyst at Credit Suisse. Matthew received a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

Sarvesh joined Viking in 2011 as an Investment Analyst focusing on global banks and then rejoined Viking in 2019. Prior to joining Viking in 2020, Karim was a Vice President at Venrock, where he focused on venture-stage healthcare investments, and an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, where he was a leader in the Pharmaceuticals Research & Development Practice. Karim received a joint M.D./Ph.D. from New Jersey Medical School and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Rami Armon is Head of Policy Research and MENA Initiatives on the investment team. Rami is responsible for analyzing policy changes and their potential impact on companies in the firm’s investment universe and advancing initiatives in the MENA region. Prior to joining Viking in 2020, Rami was the Managing Director for Economic & Policy Research at Glenview Capital Management, a Senior Vice President at Avalere Health, and the Senior Political Strategist at Lehman Brothers. Rami received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. in history from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, an M.A. in international affairs from Columbia University, and a B.A. in government from Harvard College. At Harvard, Rami was the recipient of the Derek C. Bok Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching of Undergraduates for courses in Middle East history and politics and a FLAS fellow. He was also a Zuckerman Fellow at Columbia University and a FLAS Fellow at Middlebury College’s Arabic Program. Rami is a CFA charterholder.

Megan Capay is Chief Administrative Officer for private investments. Prior to joining Viking in 2021, Megan was Head of Corporate Relations at Surveyor Capital at Citadel and worked on the sell-side in Sales and Corporate Access Origination at Citigroup, Barclays Capital, and UBS. Megan started her career at Morgan Stanley, where she held various positions within the Asset Management and Corporate Access Groups. Megan received a B.A. in economics and Spanish from Tufts University and is a CFA charterholder.
Kelly Carr
Research Analyst
Kelly Carr is a Research Analyst responsible for helping the private equity team conduct differentiated research on private investment opportunities. Prior to joining Viking in 2021, Kelly worked in various roles, including Partner and Director of Investigations, at Quinlan Partners, where she led corporate fraud, competitive intelligence, and enhanced due diligence investigations on public and private companies and their executive teams. She served in various roles at the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at Arizona State University. Kelly was also an investigative reporter at various media companies, including Reuters and the Boston Globe’s Spotlight team, where her work won many of journalism’s highest honors and was nominated multiple times for the Pulitzer Prize. Kelly received an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College and a B.S. in journalism from West Virginia University.

Svet Minkov is Head of Tax Planning and a licensed attorney who provides legal advice to the firm. Mark Savino is Head of ESG Integration responsible for conducting relevant research, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into the investment team’s research process, advising portfolio companies on best practices, and advancing the firm’s ESG effort. Kelly was also an investigative reporter at various media companies, including Reuters and the Boston Globe’s Spotlight team, where her work won many of journalism’s highest honors and was nominated multiple times for the Pulitzer Prize. Kelly received an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College and a B.S. in journalism from West Virginia University.

Brian Grow is a Research Analyst responsible for helping the investment team conduct differentiated research. Prior to joining Viking in 2018, Brian was a Special Enterprise Correspondent at Thomson Reuters where he was a five-time Pulitzer Prize nominee by Reuters for investigative reporting. Before joining Thomson Reuters, he was a Project Director at the Center for Public Integrity and a correspondent and senior writer at BusinessWeek. Brian received an M.A. in international economics and politics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in politics and Russian language from the University of Notre Dame.
Alexandra Harney
Research Analyst
Alexandra Harney is a Research Analyst responsible for helping the investment team conduct differentiated research. Prior to joining Viking in 2020, Alexandra was a Special Correspondent at Thomson Reuters, an International Affairs Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in Japan, and an investigative analyst and reporter at various investment funds and media companies. Alexandra received a B.A. in East Asian studies from the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
Carrick Mollenkamp
Research Analyst
Carrick Mollenkamp is a Research Analyst responsible for helping the investment team conduct differentiated research. Prior to joining Viking in 2013, Carrick was a reporter at Thomson Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal in Atlanta and London. At The Wall Street Journal, he was a member of a finalist team for the Pulitzer Prize and teams that won the Gerald Loeb and Overseas Press Club awards. Carrick attended Randolph-Macon College.
Mark Savino
Head of ESG Integration
Mark Savino is Head of ESG Integration responsible for conducting relevant research, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into the investment team’s research process, advising portfolio companies on best practices, and advancing the firm’s ESG effort. Prior to joining Viking in 2021, Mark was the Lead U.S. Sustainability Analyst at Morgan Stanley, a Research Analyst at Diamondback Capital, and an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mark received a B.S. in finance from Lehigh University.

Rose Shabet is Chief Operating Officer responsible for all firm-wide operational matters. Prior to joining Viking in 2008, Rose was with Lehman Brothers as Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Branding. She was previously with Goldman Sachs for 11 years in various roles, including Analyst in the Equities Division, Investment Banker in the Financial Institutions Group, and Head of the Executive Office Client Service Group. Rose received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.A. in economics from Harvard College.
Matthew Bloom
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Matthew Bloom is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer responsible for overseeing all legal, compliance, regulatory, and transactional matters for the firm. In addition, he serves as counsel to Viking’s Management Committee. Previously, Matthew served as Deputy General Counsel and Associate General Counsel. Prior to joining Viking in 2013, Matthew was a Litigation Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. He also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Joel M. Flaum of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Matthew received a J.D. from Yale Law School and B.A. in history from Yale College.

Savina Boyadjieva is Head of Investor Relations. Savina joined Viking in 2011 and was an investor relations professional before she obtained her current position in 2017. Prior to Viking, she was a Management Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Savina received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in political science, summa cum laude, from Yale College.
Molly Brethauer
Executive Director of Foundation
Molly Brethauer is Executive Director of the Viking Global Foundation responsible for the firm’s grantmaking, employee volunteer, and matching gift programs. Prior to joining Viking in 2019, Molly worked at the Robin Hood Foundation as a Development and Communications Officer and at Claremont Preparatory School as Associate Director of Admissions. Molly holds a B.A. in psychology from Harvard College.
Stuart Brown
Head of Trading
Stuart Brown is Head of Trading responsible for managing the global trading team and overseeing trading strategy, treasury, transaction cost analysis, and broker relations. Prior to serving as the Head of Trading, Stuart was responsible for European equity execution in Viking’s London office. Stuart has also been responsible for trading all credit products globally since 2008. Prior to joining Viking in 2008, he was an Associate on the Corporate Credit Sales desk at Credit Suisse. Stuart graduated with a B.A. in economics, cum laude, from Middlebury College.

Martha Dabagian is Director of Recruiting on the Human Resources team. Prior to joining Viking in 2022, Martha was Chief Administrative Officer of Anchorage Capital Group, Chief Administrative Officer at Hoplite Capital Management, and US Head of Prime Brokerage Consulting Services at Goldman Sachs. Martha received a B.S. in accounting from Boston College.
Solange Frischer

Solange Frischer is Head of Human Resources. Solange was previously the Director of Human Resources and the Office and Administrative Manager on Viking’s human resources team. Prior to joining Viking in 2019, Solange was a Senior HR Business Partner at Citadel and the Head of Recruiting and Talent Development at Pine River Capital Management. Before that, Solange held various roles on the human resources and prime brokerage teams at Goldman Sachs. Solange received a B.A. in economics from Barnard College.
Steve Godino
Chief Information Officer
Steve Godino is Chief Information Officer responsible for leading the software development team. Before joining Viking in 2015, Steve was Chief Technology Officer at Carlson Capital, where he managed all aspects of technology including application development and infrastructure, and Chief Information Officer at Shumway Capital, where his team focused on trading and portfolio management technology. Prior to that, he managed software development for the J.P. Morgan Hedge Fund Administration unit and was Head of Software Development at Paloma Partners. Steve received a J.D. from Pace University and a B.S. in mathematics and computer science from the University of Notre Dame.
Richard Martin
Director of Investor Relations
Rich Martin is Director of Investor Relations. Rich is based in Viking’s London office. Prior to joining Viking in 2016, Rich was on the Institutional Client Management team at the Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) and a Management Consultant at the Monitor Group. Rich holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in mathematics from Williams College.
Austin Stack
Head of Strategic Initiatives
Austin Stack is Head of Strategic Initiatives. He was previously a Portfolio Manager responsible for identifying and researching investment ideas in the healthcare sector for the public equity team. He joined Viking in 2011 and rejoined in 2017 after he completed his MBA. Austin received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and a Bachelor of Science Engineering in operations research and financial engineering from Princeton University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Ellis Whipple
Chief Financial Officer
Ellis Whipple is Chief Financial Officer responsible for accounting, valuation, tax compliance, trading operations, and technology. She was previously part of the Chief Operating Officer’s team. Prior to joining Viking in 2015, Ellis held several roles at Goldman Sachs for 14 years, including Managing Director and Head of Unsecured Funding and Asset Liability Management, Head of the Executive Office Client Service Group, working closely with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Investment Banker. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ellis was an Investment Banking Analyst at Lazard Frères. Ellis received a B.A. in biochemistry from Harvard College.
